Aircraft Detailing at Livermore Municipal Airport (KLVK)
Livermore has the largest based fleet of any field we service, with 425 aircraft and nearly 150,000 operations a year. It is a busy Bay Area reliever, and the Altamont wind puts grit on every one of them.
425 Based Aircraft and Constant Wind
Livermore is a high volume general aviation field on the eastern edge of the Bay Area. The scale means real opportunity for recurring work, and the Altamont Pass wind means there is always something to clean off.
- Wind driven dust and grit that abrades an unprotected finish
- Bird activity on and around the field, and what it leaves behind
- High volume field with flight school and club aircraft
- Fleet and multi aircraft scheduling
- Bay Area corporate and tech corridor flying
- Work planned around the voluntary 2200 to 0600 quiet policy
Altamont GritWind Blown Grit Does Real Damage
The Altamont Pass funnels wind across Livermore almost constantly, and it carries fine abrasive dust. On an unprotected finish that grit does two things: it dulls the surface over time, and it turns a careless wash into a scratch farm because you are dragging particles across paint. Proper decontamination first and a slick protected surface afterward are what actually solve it.
Bird ActivityBird Droppings Are Not a Cosmetic Problem
Livermore has notable bird activity on and around the field. Droppings are acidic and they start etching clear coat within hours in the sun. This is the one contaminant where waiting until your next scheduled wash genuinely costs you paint. A coated surface buys you time.
Livermore Questions
Do you service flight schools and clubs?
Yes, and Livermore is the field where that makes the most sense. Multiple aircraft on one recurring schedule is far better value than individual calls.
How bad is the wind for my paint really?
Constant fine grit is more damaging than most owners expect, mostly because of what it does during washing rather than while sitting. That is the argument for proper technique over frequent quick scrubs.
How quickly should I deal with bird droppings?
As fast as you reasonably can. Hours matter in direct sun. If you cannot get to it, at minimum keep the spot wet until someone can.
Livermore is a long way from Rancho Murieta. Do you really come out?
It is one of our furthest fields, so it works best with lead time or on a recurring schedule where the trip is planned. Call us and we will be straight with you about timing.
